This map represents the spread of no-till around the world as of 2008. It must be kept in mind that the figures for conservation tillage in general, even though they’re hard to estimate, are much larger in some areas, such as the United States. The ratios obtained are mostly calculated from expert estimates for each area and total arable land census provided by the FAO and the World Bank. They are thus subject to relative inaccuracy and should be used as guidelines to give a broad idea of the situation of no-till in different parts of the world. Hover the mouse over each area to see the estimated ratio of land under no-till. Click to get a more detailed description. |
