Controversy Summary

Soay sheep are wild sheep that live on the island of St Kilda in Scotland. Their average size has been decreasing for decades, whereas large size is a selective advantage and sheep should be getting larger. Most scientists agree that this shrinking is a consequence of climate change, but they don't agree on the mechanism that is causing this trend. Several explanations have been put forward: genetics, warmer winters, decline in lamb growth, grazing quality...
