Who are they ?
The WCA represents coal companies and stakeholders from both the developed and developing world. Some of their corporate members are Total, Coal India and Caterpillar.
What is their position ?
There are plenty of opportunities for geological storage sites, hence enabling CCS to play a significant role for the stabilization of atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Including CCS in the CDM is an important step for the worldwide deployment of this vital mitigation technology. It will help developing countries to meet their development goals in an environmentally sustainable manner. The WCI believes that there is already enough data available to allow CCS activities to be included in the CDM.
