We are a group of six students from the Communication department of Sciences Po, a French social sciences university. As part of a Science and Technology Studies lecture given by French sociologist Bruno Latour, we had to “map” a scientific controversy linked to climate change and chose to analyze the link between climate change and shrinking body size of certain species, with a special focus on the Soay sheep of St Kilda. Our goal was to study the different theories and actors gravitating around the issue, and create a website that would sum everything up in an intelligible way.

Why Soay Sheep?

While researching climate change-related topics, our text-miner, Axelle Levelut, stumbled upon an article from French newspaper Le Monde featuring the Soay sheep phenomenon. The idea that climate change could have such an effect on wild species’ size caught our attention, and we went from there – we hope you enjoyed it!
