The model created by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) shows the lowest level of greenhouse gases produced by sugarcane bioethanol through a computable general equilibrium model. It assess the level of greenhouse gases released in the bioethanol process at 38g/MJ. Consequently, agribusinesses favour this model since, more often than not, it approves the exchange of agricultural land to fields for bioethanol sugar-cane. The largest organisation that employs this model is UNICA, the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association.
